When consumers across the world flock to local electronics outlets to purchase their high-end toys, the hot trend seems to be what flies off the shelf with relative ease.  However, we’ll turn our attention to the world of table pcs, the seemingly portable device that professes to having the same features and characteristics as your home computer with the portability of your phone.  Will these 7’ super gadgets survive the technological cut? Here is what the consensus believes will be the end result:

Touch Screens Will Dominate Them

The presence of the touch screen home computer and the power of the Android’s and iPhones will take down any possible threat of a tablet pc; since you can view and, soon, type up documents with your phone, the need to have something bulky to lug around the office will be moot considering you can store your documents and other projects on the Cloud and then access them from an office mainframe. With the compatibility that the iPhone possesses alone, tablet pcs will more than likely fade away as the iPhone becomes stronger.

Phones Just Do Too Much

You cannot talk with your tablet (with ease, at least) and you certainly can’t text very quickly while on the go with a tablet pc, either; therefore, logical choices by consumers will lead them away from the tablets before long.  Yes, you can even read books on your phone, albeit in smaller print, which leads us to the only advantage of tablet pcs:

Book Readers Will Remain On ‘Fire’

Perhaps the only surviving cast of the tablet pc world will be the Kindle Fire and the likes; it definitely beats reading a paperback book on the beaches of Cozumel.  However, if you are really on vacation, why would you be reading in the first place? Book readers will live on for a while until virtual reality kicks in and allows you to see books in your mind.  A scary thought, but a true one.

Conclusion

The world of tablet pcs will soon be rocked by the realization that we have many of the great features either already on the touch screen phones or soon to arrive there.  Once the manufacturers also see that touch screen televisions and computers are taking over, the concentration will shift to that technological niche and officially place the tablet pcs in File Number 13.
